Heavy Metal
Heavy Metal (often referred to simply as metal ) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s. With roots in blues-rock and psychedelic rok, he bands that created heavy metal developed a thick, massive sound, characterized by highli amplified distortion, extended guitar solos, mphatic beats, and overal the first heavy metal bands such as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple attracted large audiences, though they were often critically reviled, a estatus common throughout the history of he genre in the mid 1970s Judas Priest helped spur the genre's evolution by discarding much of its blues influence ; motorhead introduced a punk rock sensibility and increasing emphasis on speed .
Bands in the new wave of british heavy metal such as Irun Maiden followed in a similar vein . Before the end of the decade, heavy metal had attracted a worldwide following of fans known as "Metalheads" or " "Headbangers"In the 1980s glam metal became commercial force with groups like Motley Clue and Ratt .
Undergroups scenes produced an array of more extreme styles : thrash metal broke into the mainstream with bands like Metallica .
Other styles like death metal and black metal remain subcultural phenomena .

Nirvana: The band that changed rock music
Nirvana was one of the most popular bands in the nineties. It started in the little town of Aberdeen, Washington. Kurt Cobain And Krist Noveselic started the band 1987 and switched drummers various time until they found Dave Groghl in 1990. Kurt and Krist met at when The Melvins played, they were both fans of The Melvins and thats where they met and made the band. After many different drummers they found were introduced to Dave Groghl by Buzz Osborne. They signed up with Sub Pop recods in 1988 their first big success Love Buzz/ Big Cheese. They realesed bleach in 1989 which did´nt have alot of success but got the attention of Jack Andino.
When the band started, their songs were really angry but as the time flew by the songs began to change and got more pop and happier but still kept their rawness and originality.
They started having success after released the album nevermind, their biggest hit was Smells Like Teen Spirit which changed the way of music after their hit song. All the band from the norh-east started getting reconized and bands like Pearl Jam, Alice in chains, mudhoney and others.
Not alot of people knew of the bands struggles and conflicts. The world was shocked when the news announced that Kurt Cobain had commited suicide. That tragic death of Kurt Cobain was the end of a great band a band that changed the way that music was played with their sincerity and rawness. To me Nirvana helps me express my self in many ways and makes me think about the way things are
in my life and how I can be a better person. Nirvana helped me out alot in my life and changed the way I look, the way I think and the way i express my self.
